Pahrump Valley Wilderness Area

Pahrump Valley Wilderness Area spans 77,501 acres of federally protected backcountry in California, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. This is primitive terrain where no motorized vehicles, roads, or mechanized travel are permitted—the defining rule of any federally designated Wilderness. Visitors come here for hiking, backpacking, and the genuine solitude that comes with non-motorized exploration of undeveloped land.

Access requires leaving your vehicle behind and traveling on foot. All visitors must practice Leave No Trace principles: pack out what you pack in, camp only where permitted, stay on or near established routes, and respect the wilderness designation that protects this place. Water sources and seasonal conditions vary, so preparation and self-sufficiency are essential. Spring and fall typically offer the most comfortable conditions for extended backcountry travel in this region.
