Mount Skokomish Wilderness

Mount Skokomish Wilderness is a 13,279-acre federally protected Wilderness Area in Washington, managed by the Forest Service. The landscape is primitive backcountry designed for non-motorized recreation and solitude—no roads, motors, or mechanized travel are permitted. Hiking and backpacking are the primary ways to explore the area.

Visitors must follow Leave No Trace principles and wilderness regulations. Access is on foot only, and the wilderness character means you'll encounter minimal development and few other people. Spring and early summer bring seasonal access challenges as snow melts; fall offers stable conditions and fewer crowds. Winter conditions typically close or severely restrict travel. Plan accordingly for a true backcountry experience.
