Marble Mountain Wilderness

Marble Mountain Wilderness is a 225,301-acre federally protected backcountry area in California managed by the Forest Service. It offers remote hiking and backpacking opportunities across primitive terrain where motorized travel and mechanized equipment are prohibited. The wilderness preserves a non-motorized landscape where hikers and backpackers can find genuine solitude and engage with the natural environment under Leave No Trace principles.

Access requires foot travel only. There are no roads or developed facilities within the wilderness boundary. Summer and early fall offer the most reliable hiking season, though access is weather-dependent and conditions can change rapidly at higher elevations. Winter snow closes most routes. Plan accordingly for a true backcountry experience—bring a map, be self-sufficient, and respect the wilderness regulations that protect this area.
