The Splinter is a climbing area on Bureau of Land Management land within the Lander Field Office in Wyoming. It sits among several other climbing spots, with Shell Canyon Spire, The Snafflehound and The Whistlepig all about 0.1 mile away. The area has one route, West Chimney, a trad climb rated 5.8 on the YDS scale. Trevor and Eddie Bowman first ascended it on May 3, 2008. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Shoshoni show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 77°F, while July averages about 90°F and winter highs stay near freezing.
