Sandstone is a climbing area in the Lander Slope Area of Critical Environmental Concern on Bureau of Land Management land in Wyoming, about 5 miles from Lander. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 88°F with lows near 55°F, and September highs around 75°F with lows near 45°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures here run a little cooler. Grade II Wall and Sandstone Buttress are both climbing areas about 0.2 miles away.
