Spring Creek is an easy out-and-back hike in Wyoming's Shoshone National Forest, within the Washakie Ranger District. The trail is about 2.8 miles long, with a low point of 8,576 feet and a high of 8,948 feet, and it gains about 64 feet of elevation. The Forest Service manages the land. The route is natural-surfaced and open to both horses and bikes, so it works for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. It is open year-round, and the trip is short enough to fit into a day of exploring the surrounding area. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Atlantic City, Wyoming, run to highs around 78°F in July, with lows in the low 40s. That station sits roughly 1,100 feet below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. Nearby, 352 Indian Trail is about 1.6 miles away.
