Moose Mountain is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Wyoming's Jedediah Smith Wilderness, within the Ashton/Island Park Ranger District of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. The trail is about 1.3 miles long, with a one-way elevation gain of 451 feet, taking you from a low point of about 9,300 feet to a high point of about 9,750 feet. The route is natural-surface and open to horses, and it is not an accessible trail. Bikes are not allowed. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. For a longer outing, Teton Crest North lies about a mile away, and Owl Creek Trail is about 1.5 miles off. Moose Basin Divide Trail is roughly 2 miles away, and paddlers can find Moose Creek about 5 miles from the trail.
