Campground Road is a short, easy cross-country ski route in the Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit-Iansr in Wisconsin, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. The route is about half a mile long, with a total elevation gain of 112 feet, and it makes an out-and-back trip that starts and ends at nearly the same point. The climb is back-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.06 miles in, where the grade reaches 6 percent. The high point is 1,122 feet, and the low point is 1,070 feet, so the route is a gentle rise and fall rather than a long climb. Winter is the natural season for this ski route. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show January highs around 26°F with about seven snow days, while March brings highs near 41°F and the last of the snow. The station sits about 294 feet lower than the route, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. Several other routes lie within a short distance. The Purple Loop and Green Loop are both cross-country ski routes about 0.6 and 0.9 miles away, and the Purple Trail and Red Loop are hiking options at a similar distance.
