Zion is a bouldering area in West Virginia, set within the Bluestone Lake Wildlife Management Area and managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. It sits among a cluster of named boulders and talus, with several climbing areas within a short distance of one another. The climbing here is all bouldering, and the routes are rated in the V scale. Mid Pyramid is V3-4, and Pyramid Left Arete is V3. Both are boulder problems, so the area works well for a day of short, technical moves on rock. September and October are the most comfortable months to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Bluestone Lake weather station show highs around 79°F in September and 68°F in October, with fewer wet days than in spring or summer. The station sits a few hundred feet lower than the area, so temperatures at Zion may run slightly cooler. Other boulders close by include G:Alligator Skin Boulder, H: Flow Boulder and J: Zion Boulder, each about 0.2 miles away. For a longer outing, the Pipestem Knob Trail lies roughly 6 miles off.
