Main Area Bouldering is a bouldering area in West Virginia, set within the Bluestone Lake Wildlife Management Area and managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. It sits among a cluster of named boulders, with Hershey Boulder, The Dugout and Firepole Boulder all about 0.1 mile away. The area holds eight bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale. The easiest are The Crown Slab at V0- and The Crown at V0, while the hardest is Sky High Project at V12. The median grade runs V1-2. For timing, September and October are the most comfortable months, with typical highs around 79°F and 68°F and the fewest wet days of the year, based on averages from a nearby weather station at Bluestone Lake. Winter brings highs in the low 40s and a few snowy days each month from December through February. Other climbing is close by, with The Blok about 0.1 mile away. For time off the rock, Pipestem Knob Trail lies about 6.5 miles away, and Rich Creek offers canoeing about 6.9 miles away.
