Green Block is a bouldering area within Coopers Rock State Forest in West Virginia, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. It sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, including the Tendon Repair Kit Area, Ceiling Block Area and Mad Butcher Block, all within about a tenth of a mile. The area has seven bouldering routes, all rated between V0+ and V5 on the V scale. Green Block Test Piece is the hardest at V5, and Green Block Traverse runs V2-3. The routes are grouped close together, so it's easy to move from one to another. For the most comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Morgantown show May highs around 74°F and September highs around 77°F, with September also seeing the fewest wet days of the year. That station sits well below the forest, so temperatures at the boulders run cooler. The Underlook Trail and Rock City Trail are both within half a mile, and the Cimbing Access Trail is about 0.5 miles away.
