Casey Jones is a bouldering area in West Virginia, sitting right next to the town of Cotton Hill, about 0.1 mile away. It is one of several climbing spots clustered in this corner of the state, with Cotton Bottom, Highball Boulder and Malone Boulder all within a tenth of a mile. The climbing here is all bouldering, and the routes run from V2 up to V10. The easiest are WB Left at V2 and Stella's V6 at V3, while White Egret is the hardest at V10. That range gives climbers a good spread of options, from straightforward problems to something with a real challenge. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 75°F and September highs around 78°F, with lows in the 40s. That station sits about 545 feet lower than the area, so temperatures at Casey Jones run a little cooler. Hikers can pair a session on the boulders with the Cliffside Trail or Loop Trail, both about a mile away, or the Hawk's Nest Rail Trail at roughly 1.4 miles.
