Deer Creek Road is a cross-country skiing route in Washington's Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, within the Darrington Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the road starts at about 1,659 feet, climbs to 3,129 feet, and returns to the low point of 1,590 feet, making it an out-and-back trip of 8.2 miles with a total gain and loss of 2,230 feet. The route is a single, connected path of about 4.1 miles one way, with the steepest stretch at 1.4 miles in, where the grade reaches 16 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 72°F in July and August, with far fewer wet days than the rest of the year. That station sits well below the road, so temperatures up high run cooler. The Deer Creek and Beaver Creek hikes begin just 0.1 mile away, and Coal Creek Group Camp is 0.2 mile off. For paddling, the South Fork Stillaguamish River lies about 2.2 miles away.
