(e) Philosophical Sandeagle Boulder is a bouldering area in Washington's Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, within the Snoqualmie Ranger District and the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Natural Resources Conservation Area. The land is managed by the State Department of Natural Resources, and the boulders sit among several other climbing spots in this corner of the forest. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the Cedar Lake weather station, about 6 miles away, show July and August highs around 70°F with only eight or nine wet days a month, while winter brings highs near 39°F and regular snow days. The area has seven boulder problems, all rated from V0 to V4. The easiest are Bernie Sandeagle and Downclimb at V0, and the hardest is 2d Shooter at V4. The route names include references to the boulder's philosophical theme, such as Joseph Biaretta and Not Another Bat Hang. The closest neighbors are (2) Highway Ditch Zone and (f) Slab & Wesson Boulder, each about 0.1 mile away, and the Climbing Access Loop Trail at 0.2 mile. Tinkham Campground is about 3 miles off.
