Motherland is a sport climbing area in Washington's Snoqualmie Ranger District, part of the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and the Middle Fork Snoqualmie Natural Resources Conservation Area. The State Department of Natural Resources manages the land. Summer is the most comfortable time to climb. Typical averages from the Cedar Lake weather station, about 6 miles away, show July and August highs around 70°F with only eight or nine wet days a month, while winter brings highs near 39°F and regular snow days. The area has 13 sport routes, with grades ranging from 5.7 to 5.12b. Bryan Burdo is the first ascender on several of them, including False Pretenses (5.7) and Stretcher Case (5.10c/d). Toying with my Affections (5.10a) and Offspring (5.12a) are also among the options. Relief Camp and Slabbage Patch are both about 0.1 mile away, and the Climbing Access Loop Trail starts just as close. Tinkham Campground, about 3.4 miles off, is the nearest place to camp.
