Palmer is a short out-and-back mountain biking route in Lacamas Park, on county land in Washington. The climb rises about 60 feet from a low point of 230 feet to a high of 316 feet, covering roughly 1.2 miles round trip. The steepest part of the ride comes about halfway through, with a grade of about 15 percent. Summer is the warmest time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Troutdale, Oregon, put July and August highs around 81°F, while winter highs sit in the mid-40s. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the route, so temperatures on the trail run slightly cooler. Lacamas Park Trails and the Red Tape mountain biking route both lie within a quarter mile. Hikers can reach the Itchy and Scratchy Trail about 0.3 miles away. Paddlers can head to the Little Washougal River, about 3 miles off.
