Chopaka Lake is a fishing lake in northeastern Washington, about 4.5 miles from the community of Nighthawk. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife manages the land, and the lake sits in a cluster of hiking trails that make it easy to pair with time on foot. Summer is the most comfortable season to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 77°F in July and August, with lows near 52°F. That station sits a few hundred feet lower than the lake, so temperatures here may run slightly cooler. The closest trails are Chopaka Meadow, about half a mile away, and Ridge View and Chopaka Lake Ridge, each roughly a mile off. Paddlers can head to North Fork Toats Coulee Creek, about 5 miles away.
