Poplar Flat Campground sits on the banks of the Twisp River in the Methow Valley Ranger District of Washington's Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the campsite is set in forest along the river, with a picnic shelter and area within the grounds. The site works well for groups, and the picnic area can accommodate up to 12 people. It's also a base for getting on foot, with access to the Twisp River Trail and other trailheads nearby. Wildlife viewing is among the draws. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mazama show July and August highs around 84°F with only four to five wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the upper 20s and frequent rain. Vault toilets are the only listed amenity, and a fee is charged. The Twisp River is about a mile away for canoeing, and Reynolds Creek Trail and Scatter Creek Trail are both within about a mile and a half. South Creek Campground is roughly 1.9 miles off.
