Juliet's Balcony: Upstream is a climbing area on the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Virginia, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, including Juliet's Balcony - Upper Balcony area, Lower Balcony and The Dike Creek Area, all within about a tenth of a mile. The River Trail also starts close by. The area has six routes, with four done in trad and two on top rope. Grades run from 5.0 up to 5.10d, so climbers can choose between easier and more challenging options. Sneakers Descent is a top-rope 5.0, and Sciolist is a trad 5.10+ with a 1982 first ascent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 76°F and October highs around 68°F, while July averages about 88°F. The station sits at a similar elevation to the parkway, so temperatures here should run about the same.
