Gateway 2 is a short, easy mountain biking loop in Pocahontas State Park in Virginia, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The route is a loop of about 0.4 miles with no elevation gain, so it works well as a quick ride or a warm-up before heading to other trails in the park. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 71°F with lows near 49°F, and May highs around 78°F. July is the warmest month, with typical highs near 90°F. Several other mountain biking routes sit about 0.1 mile away, including Gateway 1, Blueberry Hill and Freight Line. For paddling, Licking Creek is about 4.5 miles off.
