West Desert is a climbing area in Utah on Bureau of Land Management land within the Fillmore Field Office. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Marjum Canyon about half a mile away and Hermit Canyon and Campsite East each roughly 0.7 miles off. The area has two routes, Through the Never (a trad climb at 5.9) and Starboard (a sport route at 5.10), so it works well as a short stop for climbers looking to pair it with other nearby crags. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Eskdale show May highs around 75°F and October highs near 69°F, while July averages climb to about 94°F. That station sits roughly 900 feet lower than the area, so temperatures here run cooler. The House Range is about 1.4 miles away, and the Notch Peak Trail is about 6.7 miles off for a change of pace.
