Commitment Buttress is a climbing area in the Lone Peak Wilderness, within the Salt Lake Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah. The Forest Service manages the land. The area sits among several other climbing spots. Coal Pit Buttress is about 0.1 mile away, and Bridge Boulders (also known as Junkie Boulders) is about 0.2 mile off. Lisa Falls is roughly half a mile away for a short hike. The climbing here ranges from trad routes with grades around 5.6 to a pair of sport routes at 5.10. The Commitment route, a 5.6 trad climb, was first ascended by Joel Brown, Dave George and Paul Horton in 1970. The sport routes, Commitment Issues and Involuntary Commitment, were both first climbed by Aaron Rashaw and Jeremy Kellogg. Typical averages from the nearby Timpanogos Cave weather station, about 8.6 miles away, show June highs near 78°F with lows around 52°F, while July runs warmer at about 88°F. That station sits roughly 1,100 feet lower than the buttress, so temperatures on the cliff itself run cooler.
