Coal Pit Buttress is a climbing area in the Lone Peak Wilderness, part of the Salt Lake Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah. The Forest Service manages the land, and the area sits within designated wilderness. The climbing here is a mix of trad and sport routes, with 22 routes in total. Trad routes make up the majority, and the grades run from 5.5 up to 5.12a. Some of the named routes include Starting Point Crack at 5.5, Tony's Route at 5.8, and Refugees From Reality at 5.12a. The sport route Stick Man is also listed. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June and September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 78°F to 76°F.
