Slickrock is a short, hard mountain biking route on Bureau of Land Management land in Utah, within the Moab Field Office. The ride starts and ends at nearly the same point, with a total distance of about 0.6 miles and an elevation gain of 27 feet, so it makes for a quick test of skills rather than a long climb. The high point sits at 4,663 feet, and the low point at 4,620 feet. The most comfortable months for a ride are spring and fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Moab show April highs around 72°F and October highs around 74°F, while July averages climb to about 99°F and January lows dip to about 21°F. Slickrock Practice Loop, a hike about half a mile away, is the closest nearby option. Sand Flats Recreation Area Group Campsites and Grandstaff Campground offer places to stay within about 2 miles, and Mill Creek Trail is roughly 1.4 miles off.
