The Virgin River Rim Trail is an out-and-back hike of about 18.6 miles in the Cedar City Ranger District of Dixie National Forest in southern Utah. It rises from a low point of about 8,200 feet to a high of about 9,770 feet, with a total elevation gain of about 2,900 feet. The trail is rated hard, and its natural surface makes it a rugged route for hikers and riders alike. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Brian Head weather station, which sits at nearly the same elevation as the trail's high point, show July highs around 71°F with lows near 42°F, while winter highs there stay in the 20s and 30s. The trail is open year-round, and Cedar Canyon campground lies just 0.7 miles away. Blowhard Trail and Crystal Springs Road are both about 1.3 miles off, and Navajo Lake, roughly 7 miles away, offers fishing.
