The route is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.16 miles, and the high point reaches about 7,741 feet. The climb is short and gentle, so the hike makes a quick outing. The trail is open to both horses and bikes, so riders and pack animals can join the walk. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets.
