Red Breaks Slot Canyon is a hard hike on Bureau of Land Management National Public Lands in southern Utah, about 5.4 miles from the nearest town. The route is an out-and-back that covers roughly 11 miles round trip, with a one-way climb of about 985 feet from a low point of about 4,970 feet to a high of about 5,941 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Escalante weather station show May highs around 76°F and October highs around 68°F, while July averages about 92°F and January highs sit near 43°F. Several other trails lie within a few miles. Volcano Trail and the Escalante River are both about 2.3 miles away, Zebra Slot Trail is about 2.6 miles off, and Tunnel Slot Trail is about 2.7 miles away.
