Hancock Peak Trail is a 14-mile out-and-back hike in Utah's Dixie National Forest, within the Cedar City Ranger District. The trail starts at about 9,644 feet and climbs to 10,191 feet at its high point, a gain of 706 feet, and is managed by the Forest Service. The route is rated hard. It is an out-and-back, and the trail surface is natural, with biking allowed. The climb is steady, and the trail is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable season. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Cedar Breaks, which sits at a similar elevation, run to highs around 69°F in July and 60°F in September. Winters there are cold, with January highs around 35°F and lows near 19°F. Nearby, Tommy Creek Loop and Lowder Ponds Trail are both under 3.5 miles away, and The Dark Tower climbing area is about 3.5 miles off. Panguitch Lake South campground lies roughly 7.5 miles away.
