Grass Hollow is a moderate out-and-back hike in Utah's Ashley National Forest, on the Duchesne Ranger District. The trail is about 3 miles long, with a total elevation gain of roughly 1,200 feet, and it climbs from a low point of about 7,784 feet to a high of about 9,033 feet. The route is open year round, and the Forest Service manages the land. The trail is a natural-surface route that allows both horses and bikes. That makes it a flexible choice for riders and pack animals alike, and the climb is a steady one rather than a steep, sudden push. Summer is the most comfortable season for the hike. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 74°F and lows near 48°F in July, while winter highs sit around 30°F. Nearby, Right Fork Indian Canyon and Mill Hollow are both within about 2 miles, and Avintaquin Campground is about 4 miles away. For paddling, Avintaquin Creek lies about 9.5 miles off.
