The Gambel Oak Trail is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2 miles that rises roughly 314 feet from a low point of 7,204 feet to a high of 7,544 feet. It sits just under a mile from Park City, Utah, and makes a short, low-elevation outing for anyone already in the area. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. A nearby weather station in Park City records typical July averages of 80°F for the high and 53°F for the low, and the trail's own high point sits higher than that station, so expect temperatures up top to run a little cooler. The trail starts close to two other routes, the April Mountain Trail and Solamere, each about 0.1 mile away. White Pine Lake and Jordanelle State Park McHenry Campground are both within about 4 miles.
