Black Gulch is an easy out-and-back hike on Bureau of Land Management land in the St. George Field Office, about 6 miles from the town of Ivins, Utah. The route is roughly 3.4 miles long, with a one-way climb of about 456 feet from a low point of 3,772 feet to a high of 4,241 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Veyo Powerhouse show May highs around 75°F and October highs around 71°F, while July averages about 92°F. Several other trails sit close by. Lange's Dugway is about 0.2 miles away, High Point Trail about 0.6 miles, and Alger Hollow Trail about a mile. Climbers can find Circus Wall about 3.3 miles off.
