Dalton Springs Campground sits at 8,200 feet in an aspen and Gambel oak grove on the Monticello Ranger District of Manti-La Sal National Forest in Utah. The Forest Service manages the land, and the site offers sixteen first-come, first-served campsites. Vault toilets are the only facility. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Monticello show July highs around 84°F with lows near 55°F, while winter highs stay in the upper 30s. That station sits roughly 1,300 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures at the site run cooler. Several trails and roads lie within a few miles, offering options for biking, hiking, motorized travel and equestrian use. Mule deer and black bears may be seen nearby. For day trips, Newspaper Rock, the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park and Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum are all within easy reach.
