Altamont is a Forest Service campground in the Pleasant Grove Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Utah. It sits within the national forest's recreation sites, and the Forest Service manages the land. The campground has flush toilets, and a fee is charged for stays. It is a compact base for exploring the surrounding area, with several other destinations within a short drive. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Sundance weather station, which sits about 567 feet lower than the campground, show July highs around 81°F and lows near 58°F, while winter highs stay near freezing. Island Meadow Trail and the Timpooneke Road Winter cross-country ski route both lie about 0.2 miles away, and Timpooneke Campground is about 0.6 miles off. Echo Reservoir, roughly 1.9 miles away, offers lake fishing.
