The Hot Spot is a bouldering area in the Barton Creek Greenbelt in Austin, Texas, on city-managed land. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with Mr. Bubble Boulder and Urban Assault Bouldering each about 0.1 mile away and Gus Fruh aka Fern Bar Area about 0.3 mile off. The area is a compact, close-together set of boulders rather than a long route, and it works well as a short stop for climbers already exploring the Greenbelt. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Austin show April highs around 79°F and October highs around 81°F, while July and August average in the mid-90s. The climbing here is all bouldering, with seven routes ranging from V0 to V7. The easiest are Hand Jugs at V0 and Hand Slabs at V0-1, and the hardest is The Hard Bulge Problem at V7. Badass Arete and Hand Crack are both V2.
