Browns Ferry Federal Road Trace is a short, easy hike in Tennessee, managed by the National Park Service and located about 0.7 miles from the town of Pineville. The route is an out-and-back that covers roughly 1.2 miles, with a total elevation gain of 166 feet. The climb is steady, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.48 miles in, with a grade of about 5 percent. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Chattanooga show October highs around 74°F with lows near 51°F, and April is similar at about 74°F by day and 50°F at night. July and August average highs near 90°F. Several other outings sit within a short drive. The Cherokee Trail, a mountain biking route, is about 1.2 miles away, and the Blue Blazes Trail and Gig City hikes are each about 1.3 to 1.4 miles off. The Tennessee Riverwalk is about 1.6 miles away.
