The Umatilla Rim Trail is a short cross-country skiing route in Oregon's Umatilla National Forest, within the Walla Walla Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the surrounding land, and the trail lies on a small out-and-back loop of about 0.28 miles, with the high point at about 5,100 feet and the low point at about 5,066 feet. The climb is flat, and the total gain and loss are each about 45 feet. Winter is the natural season for this route. At a nearby weather station in Meacham, Oregon, typical January highs average about 37°F with lows near 21°F, while July and August run warmer, with typical highs around 79°F and only about four wet days a month. That station sits roughly 1,400 feet below the trail, so temperatures on the rim run cooler. Bobcat, another cross-country ski area, is about 0.9 miles away, and Woodland Campground is about 1.8 miles away.
