Woodpecker Loop Trail is a short, easy hike of about a mile on the William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon, managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The trail rises about 115 feet from a low point of 294 feet to a high of 414 feet, with the steepest stretch at about half a mile in, where the grade reaches 19 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 82°F with only about two wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and rain on most days. The trail sits among several other short routes. Mill Hill Trail is about 0.2 miles away and Intertie Trail about 0.3 miles. Cabell Marsh Trail is roughly half a mile off, and paddlers can reach Muddy Creek about 1.5 miles away.
