The Upper Laidlaw Loop Trail is a short, easy hike on Bureau of Land Management land in Oregon's Prineville Deschutes Field Office, about 1.7 miles long with a total elevation gain of 43 feet. The trail is a low-key outing, with the high point at 3,226 feet and the low at 3,181 feet, and it is rated easy. The route is on natural surface, and the Bureau of Land Management's national datasets confirm that neither horses nor bikes are allowed here. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.12 miles in, with a grade of 8 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Bend show July and August highs around 82°F with lows near 49°F and only two or three wet days a month. Winter is much colder, with January highs around 42°F and lows near 24°F. The trail sits close to several other hikes. Whiskey Still Ridge Trail and Wilson Homestead Trail are each about 0.1 mile away, and Forgotten Fields Trail is about 0.7 mile off. Climbers can find Cline Falls Bouldering roughly 4.7 miles away.
