This short, easy hike sits on Bureau of Land Management land within the Prineville Deschutes Field Office in central Oregon, about 0.36 miles from the trailhead. The route is an out-and-back of about 0.72 miles, with a total elevation gain of 31 feet, so it's a flat walk that barely rises from its starting point of about 3,098 feet to a high of about 3,108 feet. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Redmond show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 79°F, while July and August average in the upper 80s. The trip takes about half an hour, and the trail is close to several other routes. The Fat Rabbit Loop Trail is about half a mile away, and the Oregon Sunshine Trail and Wrangler Road are each about 0.6 miles off. Climbers can find Cline Falls Bouldering roughly 2.2 miles away.
