Swallow Lake is a 7.2-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Mount Jefferson Wilderness, within the Detroit Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest. The trail climbs from a low point of 4,751 feet to a high of 6,359 feet, with a total gain of 2,049 feet, and it is rated hard. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced and open to horses. The climb is rolling, but it gets steep around mile 2.1, where the grade reaches 29 percent. The trip takes about 3.5 hours, and the trail is open year-round. Lake of the Woods sits just 0.1 mile away, and Minto Pass and the Marion Lake Trail 3436 are both about 1.4 miles off. For an overnight base, Marion Forks Campground is about 5.4 miles away.
