Scott-Obsidian Tie is a short, easy hike in the McKenzie River Ranger District of Oregon's Willamette National Forest, about 1.1 miles long and roughly 23 feet of elevation gain one way. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced, with horses and bikes both allowed. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Santiam Junction show July and August highs around 76°F with lows near 42°F, and the trail sits higher than that station, so expect it to run a little cooler. Scott Trail #3531 starts about 0.3 miles away, and the Benson Lake/Scott Lake Complex campground is about 0.8 miles off.
