Rock Creek is a moderate out-and-back hike in the Klamath Ranger District of Oregon's Fremont-Winema National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail starts at about 4,180 feet and climbs to a high point of 5,113 feet, with a total gain of 1,498 feet over the course of the 7.1-mile round trip. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 1.8 miles in, where the grade reaches 20 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Chiloquin run to highs around 75°F in June and 85°F in July, with only a few wet days a month. That station sits about 900 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures up top run cooler. The hike takes about three hours. Cherry Peak is about 2.4 miles away, and Malone Boat Launch and Cherry Creek are both within about 3.3 miles. South Rock Creek is about 5 miles off.
