Panther Lake is a 2-mile out-and-back hike in Oregon's Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forests, within the Gold Beach Ranger District. The trail climbs from about 3,800 feet to a high point of 3,828 feet, with a total gain of 1,188 feet over the round trip. The steepest stretch comes around 0.9 miles in, where the grade reaches 17%. The route is rated moderate, and it works well for a short outing on a single day. It is a natural-surface trail that allows horses and bikes, so riders and pack animals can join the walk. The trail is not accessible. Snow Camp Lookout sits just 0.1 mile away, and Windy Valley is 0.8 mile off. For time on the water, South Fork Collier Creek and Pistol River are both within about 4 miles.
