North Fork Segment #4 is a hard, out-and-back hike in Oregon's Willamette National Forest, within the Middle Fork Ranger District. The trail is about 8.7 miles long, with an elevation gain of roughly 597 feet from a low point of about 2,037 feet to a high of about 2,282 feet. It is managed by the Forest Service. The route is natural-surface, and it allows both horses and bikes. Kiahanie Campground sits just 0.2 miles away, making it the closest place to camp. Blair Lake Campground and Huckleberry Lake are both within about 4 miles. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 80°F with only two or three wet days a month, while winter brings highs in the low 40s and rain on more than half the days. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The route is open year-round. Grasshopper Meadow, about 2.8 miles away, and the North Fork Middle Fork Willamette River, about 4.9 miles away, are other options close by.
