Grotto Falls is a short hike in the North Umpqua Ranger District of Oregon's Umpqua National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is 0.6 miles long with a total elevation gain of 249 feet, from a starting point near 2,898 feet to a high point of 3,149 feet. The climb is easy, and the route is natural-surfaced. Bikes are allowed. The trailhead is named Grotto Falls Trailhead, and the hike takes about half an hour to complete. It stays open all year, so there's no off-season to plan around. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Toketee Falls weather station, which sits roughly 1,000 feet lower, show July and August highs in the mid-80s with only a few wet days each month. Winter brings highs near 40°F and frequent rain, with several snowy days in December and January. White Creek Campground and Coolwater Campground are both within about 3 miles, and the Little River and Cougar Creek Trail are close by for more time outdoors.
