Bobby Lake is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 3.2 miles in the Middle Fork Ranger District of Oregon's Willamette National Forest. The route rises about 436 feet from the low point at 5,442 feet to a high of 5,606 feet, with a total round-trip elevation gain of 436 feet. The climb is rolling, with the steepest stretch about 0.11 miles in at a 6% grade. The trail is on natural surface, and horses and bikes are both allowed. The Forest Service manages the land, and the hike is open year-round, with an estimated time of about 1.5 hours. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Odell Lake weather station show July and August highs around 73 to 74°F with only about three wet days a month. That station sits about 800 feet lower, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. Betty Lake Trail and the Gold Lake Nordic Tie-In are each about 0.3 miles away. Gold Lake is about 0.7 miles off, and Shadow Bay campground lies about 2 miles away.
