Umapine Campground is a Forest Service rustic campground in the La Grande Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, about 10 miles west of Vey Meadows. It sits between Cuuyem and Umapine Creeks in a ponderosa pine forest and serves as a central staging area for the Winom-Frazier OHV trail area, which offers more than 140 miles of challenging off-road trails. The campground has 5 single sites and 3 group sites, one of which is a pull-through. Vault toilets are the only facility. A fee is charged for stays. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Meacham weather station show July and August highs around 79°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-30s and rain on roughly 17 days. Frazier Cg/Th is about 5 miles away, and Fly Creek offers canoeing at a similar distance. The Lehman Trail (No. 3188) and Butcher Knife Trail (No. 3189) are both within about 6 miles.
