Olive Lake Campground is a Forest Service campground in the North Fork John Day Ranger District of Oregon's Umatilla National Forest. It sits in the high country, and the nearest town is Seneca, about 48 miles away. The site is simple, with vault toilets as the only listed amenity. A fee is charged for stays. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Seneca show July and August highs around 82°F with only three or four wet days a month, while winter highs there hover in the mid-30s. That station sits roughly 1,300 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures at the camp run cooler. Several trails start close by.
