Horsfall Sand Camps is a dispersed camping area on the sand at the southern edge of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, within the Central Coast Ranger District-ODNRA of the Siuslaw National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and access to the sites is by 4x4 vehicles only, via soft sand routes. The camping is rustic. There are no toilets or campfire pits at the sites, so portable toilets and fire pans are highly recommended. Individual sites are marked by numbered posts and can hold up to 5 vehicles and 20 campers for tent camping. Three group sites accommodate 40 people and 10 vehicles. Horsfall Beach Road is the access point for sites #98 to #138, and Bull Run Staging is the access point for sites #127 to #138. Horsfall Day Use is the access point for sites #109, #120-122, #124-126, and sites #113, #122 and #132 are group sites. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 66 to 67°F with only about four wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the low 50s and rain on most days. Horsfall Campground sits just 0.1 mile away, and Bluebill Campground and the Bluebill hike are each about a mile off. Kentuck Slough, a canoeing spot, is roughly 3.8 miles away.
