Emigrant is a Forest Service campground in the Emigrant Creek Ranger District of Oregon's Malheur National Forest, about 30 miles from Seneca, Oregon. The land is managed by the Forest Service, and the site has vault toilets for its overnight visitors. For a base camp in the district, Emigrant is simple and practical. Overnight stays cost $8 per night for a single site, with an additional $4 per vehicle per day for extra vehicles. The station at Seneca, about 29 miles away, sits roughly 540 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run a bit cooler. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the Seneca station show July and August highs around 82°F with only three to four wet days a month, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s with lows near 11°F. Falls campground is about a mile away, and Alder Springs Camp is about 4.5 miles off. Emigrant Creek, a paddling route, is about 4 miles away, and Yellowjacket Campground is roughly 7 miles out.
